THE BLACK PEARL

This was my first mural project executed in 2010 while I was studying engineering. At that time I had no clue that this would be a stepping stone in my journey of becoming an artist.

It's a cafe/hookah lounge that I had designed and painted.

Located near the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee,Uttarakhand,India.

Sadly, the cafe is no more!
Heartfelt gratitude to my friend, Mrutyunjay Hiremath who believed in my potential and gave me this opportunity to create this space with him.
The entrance to the cafe.
The giant ship was a seating space.
The platform along the ship was a wobbling platform which was created to give an experience of walking on a real deck.
Sailing wooden ship.
A wooden light house at one corner.
Stairs adorned with old Classic English film posters leading to the basement of the cafe/hookah lounge
Posters of some legendary artists like Marilyn Monroe, Jim Morrison, Che Guevara, etc enhancing the vibrant purple wall. The seating space with the cushions was basically a set of wooden stairs (though not clearly visible from this picture). Since the guests were mostly students so it was created with an intention to give them an informal/casual feeling, as students love to sit in gang on stairs and chat for long.
Work In progress pictures of mine.
